Omadino crisis
According to reliable sources, Warri voice online can authoritatively report that attackers stormed Omadino Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday 30th of September 2020 using cutlass and sticks to destroy chairs and materials used by organizers at the Nenuwa Town Hall. The organizers perceived to be government-sponsored were working to identify beneficiaries during a poverty elevation program being held at Omadino Community town when suddenly according to eyewitnesses one Armstrong Yomere aka Armani, Roland Yomere and other attacked and chased the team from carrying out the program which was to identify the very poor and vulnerable persons in the community.
The Nigerian Army allegedly involved with the assailants subsequently stormed the community by 12noon and arrested 10 youths on sight without any known reason and were forced into their van to an undisclosed location. The community leadership on noticing their arrest went to Warri Area Command hoping that the youths arrested would be taken there but they were not at the police command, all effort to know their whereabouts proved abortive until 10 pm when they came back to the community. On sighting our youths we immediately took them to the hospital for treatment because they were tortured mercilessly.
The mother of Armstrong Yomere leads some women who are their immediate family members to physically attack the community youth who were on the ground to make peace. The attack immediately worsens the already tense situation in the community.
It was gathered from reliable sources in the community that the assailants are claiming that the program organizers are supposed to consult them first before embarking on the program and should never consult with the community leadership. All efforts to reach the Nigerian Army and the suspected assailants proved abortive as they could not be reached.
Sequel to this crisis, there has been a long battle to displace the current leadership of the Omadino community and recently some people tried installing another “Olare-Aja” when the duly installed one is still alive.
“ Armstrong Yomere aka Armani has consistently published on Facebook attacking Itsekiri regional development committee (IRDC) Chairman Mr. Austin Oniyesan alias Gbokwa and other youth leaders making derogatory comments and if these issues are not being addressed now, it could lead to a fatal breakdown of the law” as narrated by a community resident.
